Cinara strobi
Cinara strobi, the White Pine Aphid, is a native insect to North America which feeds on Pinus strobus, the White Pine. It is a member of the genus Cinara, which consists of the Giant Conifer Aphids. Six eggs are usually laid per needle, and the eggs overwinter until the spring. The eggs are small, black, and shiny. Heavy infestations of the White Pine Aphid can cause growth reduction or death of the tree.
