Pterostylis sanguinea
A common banded greenhood 50 to 400mm high with three to 12 stem leaves 20 to 40mm long by 4 to 7mm across and up to 10 fleshy dark reddish-brown to green, white banded flowers 12 to 18mm across with a unbited dorsal sepal and petals forming a hood over the column, short broad, flattened lateral sepals which are joined at the base and a small insect-like labellum which flicks up when touched.
Grows in shrublands, woodlands, forests, mallee-heath, coastal dunes and shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops. Found in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
