Double-crested Cormorant

Phalacrocorax auritus

Description:

large bulky cormorant, flies with bent neck, orange,gold gular patch all year round, winter adult does not show the whispy white crest on the sides of the head.

Habitat:

common and widespread, found along coasts, lakes and rivers. breeds on the coast and in the interior.

Notes:

Interior populations have increased over the last decades. These 3 were quietly enjoying their roost until some rowers came along and scared them off.
