Lonchura punctulata
Two of many small, tawny birds sitting on a palm tree sp. They are also known as Spice Finches. These are juveniles, as denoted by their lack of darker brown heads (as in adults). Spice finches are highly social and may roost with other subspecies.
Seen in the rainforest of Hawaii's Rainbow Falls State Park.
These birds are native to tropical Asia and escaped from the pet trade into the western US, particularly Hawaii and part of California.
See, I knew it! Yeah, Chief, I was excited to finally get these cute birds ID'd.
Chief RedEarth, maybe these birds look familiar to you. Apparently, they're native to Southern Asia!
Hey Chief, are you inquiring about the ID for this bird? I still am not sure.
Hmm, Chief, I don't think this is a swallow. There is only one type of swallow in Hawaii, and this bird doesn't resemble it at all.
Hmm, Chief, maybe. I'm not really sure, but I'll try to find out. Thanks for the pointer!
