Geometrid moth

Psilosticha absorpta

Description:

A moth with a wing span of about 30mm with wavy white and pale brown bands. The head, thorax and antennae appeared to have similar banding.

Spotted on a fir tree in a nature reserve. This has been spotted in mainland South east Australia and Tasmania

Notes:

This moth could well be a bark mimic. It was resting flat against the bark of the tree and blended well into the background.
