Brachiopod Fossils

Description:

Partial mold fossils of brachiopods. There was also a bivalvle fossil example on this rock. (see spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/173...). The rock measures 38.69 mm (1.52 in) long and 25.91 mm (1.02) in wide. The fossil in photo #1 measures 5.47 mm (.21 in) long and 1.97 mm (.07 in) wide. Top of rock in first photo and bottom in the second. Look for the ridges. These fossils date to the Devonian Period (416-359.2 million years ago).

Habitat:

Rocky brook (stream) bed. Gully Brook, Willoughby, Ohio, USA.
