Member of the thrush family that is widely distributed across N America in the summer breeding season and S mexico to central america during thewinter. Solitary and generally clings to a small territory

under the deck at he lodge

Notes:

We saw them just about everywhere we went, just staying out of camera range. Immediately upon arriving home I found I had a hermit thrush (as well as the varied thrusshes) wintering there. It was a cool welcome. Our local summer thrush is the swainson's with it's spiraling song
