Kentish Plover (male)

Charadrius alexandrinus

Description:

Despite the name Kentish plovers don't actually nest in Kent or the UK. This little plover has a less distinctive pattern than the ringed plover. The upper parts are greyish brown while the underparts and chest are white. During breeding season the males have a distinctive black forehead bar and black mask through the eye.
