Resinous Polypore

Ischmoderma resinosum

Description:

Cap 3-10". wide. single to overlapping; semicircular, with thick, rounded margin, exuding water drops when young; ochre to dark brown, becoming blaskish; velvety hairy, becoming smooth at maturity, Flesh 2.5 cm thick; tough and watery when young, drying hard, whitish to tan. darker with KOH. Tubes 1-10 mm long. Pores circular to angular; shite to pale brown.

Habitat:

On logs and stumps. This one is in the cracks of bricks in a woodshed.
