Peat Moss

Sphagnum sp.

Description:

The peat moss forms dense clusters of bright-green cushions on substrate, and produce brownish sporangia. Sporangia greenish when young (pic N° 5).

Habitat:

Found growing on dead trees and braches, discarded and lying around on forest floor (pic N° 6) of a lowland broadleaved forest (oak and beech), in Geneva lake valley.
