Magpie Tanager

Cissopis leverianus

Description:

A bi-colored bird with the head, neck, wings and tail being dark black and everything else bright white. The bill and feet are black and the eye has a yellow eye ring.

Habitat:

This one was in a garden in the lowland jungle in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador. They are often seen in gardens.

Notes:

A striking bird that is a frequent visitor to the village gardens. I threw in a picture of a baby . . . just because, I guess.
