Gray Whale

Eschrichtius robustus

Description:

These beached whales were being eaten by bald eagles. I came to this spot on June 2 and only the whale on the right was there. This one seemed a lot more recent and most of its body mass was still there, unlike the more decomposed one on the right.

Habitat:

Beach surrounded by sharp cliffs. This area off the island has a lot of Gray Whales in it during the migration
