A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cynoglossus cynoglossus
The Sole Fish has a slim thin body with an almost computer printed (Pixelated) texture on its back. Looks like a dead leaf when floating or skimming the very top of water.. The color of this animal ranges from Brown to an almost Black color Brown. It may or may not have spots of black running along its back side. Real pale underbelly. On its head you'll find two little bumps which are its eyes, unlike regular fish the Sole Fish is a flat fish with the eyes on the top side of its head instead of the sides.
Commonly known as the Bengal tonguesole is a species of tonguefish. It is commonly found in the Indian Ocean, particularly in brackish water and muddy or sandy bottoms off the coast of India, Bangladesh and Burma. It reaches a length between 4.9 in (12.5 cm) and 7.8 in (20 cm). The dorsal soft rays number between 95 and 102, and the anal soft rays between 72 and 78. It feeds on benthic invertebrates. "Benthos" refers to the benthic invertebrate. The benthic community includes a wide variety of organisms including clams, oysters, small shrimp-like crustaceans, and the blood and clam worms often used as bait. Some Benthos the Sole Fish enjoys eating. - Red ribbon worm (Micrura leidyi) - Common clam worm (Neanthes succinea) [Fishing Bate] - Baltic Macoma clam (Macoma balthica) [Pinky Nail Sized Clam] - Soft-shelled clam (Mya arenaria) [Typical palm sized clam found at beach] - Stout razor clam (Tagelus plebeius) [Long Bodied Clam]
I originally wanted to post this animal to get information on it but I ended up answering my own question with the research. But I'm more then glad to share the knowledge I've gain with you.
