Anax imperator

Description:

A common, large aeshnid of African origin. Its one of Europe's largest dragonflies. Males with sky blue abdomen with a black line and apple green thorax. Eyes green and blue. Abdomen slightly curved downwards.

Habitat:

Standing waters, often large and well vegetated.

Notes:

Interestingly, this guy spent a lot of time perching, enough for me to take a couple of good shots. Wasn't very active.
