Leucauge sp.
Elongated body. White with black lines making a geometrical pattern on the back. Touch of yellow.
Fallow land on the banks of the Shibai River near Shiblun Halt station. Absolutely rural Bengal.
This place (Belun village) is a haven for spider species.
Dear Tukup, Leucauge, certainly. Thought it was L. decorata a species I have seen in West Bengal but again, not a match. I am leaving it at genus level till I find time to nail it. THANK you!
It's me again. I was going to add that the markings aren't an exact match but are similar and the body is right. If it's not Leucauge fastigata, it has to be a close relative.
Hi Sukanya. Take a look. It's the most promising one I could fine. There are a couple more pictures lower in the page. Great spotting. I love spider photos but sometimes they can be so hard to identify, Especially jungle ones.
Thanks Machi, good to know I got the genus right. :)
I will look up images and try to get to species level. Thanks again.
Looks like it could be a relative of our Orchard Orbweavers (Leucauge sp.) we have in Florida. I would start with that and see if there are any members of the genus in your area that match, and if not, widen the search to any Tetragnathidae in your area.
