Chinese Mantis (male)

Tenodera sinensis

Description:

Very large, stout mantis. Most specimens are brown with green markings as shown.

Habitat:

Found on sidewalk outside the Eulett Center. Surrounding habitat is dense deciduous woodland broken by agricultural fields.

Notes:

This species is not native to North America. It was formerly considered a subspecies, Tenodera aridifolia sinensis.
