Striking black and white bird with a long tail; native to western North America. Noisy member of the corvid family, related to crows and jays. Eats wild fruit, grain, insects, arthropods, small rodents, eggs and nestlings of other birds, and carrion.
Open grassland or forest edge, prefers areas with good visibility and cover from aerial predators.
