Hazelcup Fungus

Encoelia sp.

Description:

Little brown nodules, some seemed to have burst/broken open, others remained closed. The surface seemed rather bumpy, like toad skin. The insides of the opened ones seemed darker and smoother than the outside. Encoelia furfuracea?

Habitat:

Coming up from under the bark of dead alder sticks. Found while hiking in a remote, mountainous area near the coast.
