Description:

Small toad or frog sitting on branch next to the C&O Canal at Pennyfield Lock in Maryland, June 28, 2015. Colors: grayish, beige, some white, maybe a bit of darker gray-black. Couldn't see underbelly. What is this amphibian? Toad or frog? thanks!

Habitat:

C&O Canal at Pennyfield Lock in MD. Perched on a dying branch amongst lush green leaves, trees, and shrubs, with Potomac River on one side and canal on the other side.

Notes:

About 2 to 2.5 inches big. teeny tiny!

The two species in my suggestion are visually indistinguishable from each other, and you are in range for both. So at this point there is no way to tell which one it is, hope this helps!
