Spotting

Description:

Medium-sized raptor (possible falcon) soaring high above the Sonoran Desert.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert at Camelback Mountain in Scotsdale, AZ.

Notes:

Is this Peregrine Falcon, Prairie Falcon, or unidentifiable? I'd love to add this one to my life list.

According to Ebird, the peregrine is actually common in November, so I would bet you that this is the correct species.

Might be a Mississippi Kite.

Thanks for the ID suggestion, Liam. I'd really like to add Peregrine to my life list. But, this photo just doesn't meet my standards for a confirmed sighting.

Wing shape sure resembles a falcon. Dark tail is enough to eliminate Prairie. My guess would be Peregrine.
