Olepa Arctiid Moth

Olepa sp.

Description:

Brown and moss-green colored moth about 3cm in body length, with beautiful orange-colored body seen when it flew. Family Arctiidae, subfamily Arctiinae, tribe Spilosomini, genus Olepa Watson, 1980. Most part of species occur in India and Sri Lanka, one species was described from Israel.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, spotted on the ceiling of the garage.

Notes:

There's no recorded Olepa occurrence yet in the Philippines, although the Olepa images in the net closely match the spotting.
