Fungus fly

Tapeigaster sp.

Description:

I like the sumo stance of these.
About 14mm long exploring the caps of some galerina species of fungus.

Habitat:

Local nature reserve which suffered from fire one year ago. Wicks.

Notes:

Also called 'sun fly' in WA.
family: HETEROMYZIDAE
subfamily: Tapeigastrinae
Possibly T luteipennis or annulipes.
