Cardinalis cardinalis
This is a female Northern Cardinal. Although duller in colour, it is still very similar to the males (who are bright red), with a distinct crest on their head.
These birds are found all throughout Canada and parts of the States. This particular one as spotted -- along with another half a dozen or so -- along Toronto's Humber River.
Quick in their movements, they forage close to the ground.
