On a walk up to the base of the volcano I saw these 2 dung beetles rolling what looked like a big ball of mud. Presumably there was dung inside, coated with damp mud from the rolling. I don't usually see 2 working together when I see them in India. They were having a hard time trying to roll it uphill ! These ones don't appear to have the fluted shovel-like piece on the front of the head.
Path into tropical volcanic rainforest
Ometepe is an island formed by two volcanoes rising from Lake Nicaragua in the Republic of Nicaragua. Its name derives from the Nahuatl words ome (two) and tepetl (mountain), meaning two mountains. It is the largest island in Lake Nicaragua.

Hahaha... no offense was taken Andrew. Found it quite interesting !
Sorry, no offence !
Nice to know Andrew !! I'll be careful not to use that name to a Chinese person, thank you !
Its dung or sai meaning shit in Chinese and your name Pamsai sound like pangsai which means defecating in Chinese !
thank you Lauren. I stopped and watched them for quite a while. They were rolling it uphill and kept getting rolled back, still holding onto the ball. Didn't seem to bother them that the ball kept rolling on them. Perserverence furthers, the I Ching says !
Great series Pam!
