Brown Cossid Moth

Description:

Looks like a Cossus species, also called as Cossid Miller Moth. One wing length is 17.5mm. Brown and white color to camouflage on tree trunks to look like a piece of stub.

Habitat:

Found it resting near a tree trunk along the canopy bridge in Bukit Gemuk (Fat Hill), Tawau, Sabah.

Thanks Jacob. This moth could even be a new Cossus species :-)
I will email Dr. Holloway to ask for an identification for this moth.
However, most of the entomologists will only identify insect from a photograph to a genus level only. I hope Dr. Holloway will be able to identify it to a species ID level.

I agree with Cossidae, and most likely genus Cossus. Here is a picture of Cossus cossus in the same position (I don't think it is this species, but just a comparison):
