A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This damselfly was flying around a bush near one of the ponds. I noticed water mites' larvae on its abdomen, These mites use the damselfly as a carrier. They also suck from its haemolymph as well to grow and develop. Later, when the damselfly returns to the water for mating and oviposition they jump off and live in the water again and have another metamorphosis as an eight-legged mite.
Found at the Waldon Ponds Wetlands, an old Quarrie converted into a wetlands habitat.
Would like the name of the damselfly.
