Description:

N American member of the Saturniid family of giant silk moth family. Males have mor e plumose anennae. There are 4 clear patches - one on each wing

This one hung around for about 3 days

heh - the polyphemus. Had been on the road for several hours and was posting to relax... for some reason I was sure my last spotting was in my yard!

No there isn't. I'd just posted a most amazing day flier, though... have you any idea, bayucca what it might be? There are actually two I posted, similar, but I finally got around to posting the second one a couple days ago

Interesting that you fount this in Zimbabwe. I thought they were strictly North American.
