Cicuta douglasii

Description:

Extremely poisonous herbaceous tall (to 1 m) perennial with pinnate leaves with 5-7 toothed leaflets; prominent white flowers in umbels. resembles other large members of the carrot family. Can be mistaken for wild parsnips or fennel seeds so gathering wild foods should be done with extreme caution. Causes violent seizures. Responsible for deaths of people, pets, and livestock.

Habitat:

Trail side in wet area in mountains at approximately 3000 m elevation. Native to the Pacific Northwest U.S.

Notes:

Along the Lake Agnes trail off Poudre Canyon.
