Bismark Palm Tree

Bismarkia nobilis

Description:

About seven to eight feet high, these ornamental palm trees are about as wide as they are tall. One of the shorter types of palm with large leaves.

Habitat:

These are seemingly popular palms for landscaping here in Malaysia. Don't know where they originate from.

Notes:

This tree was among many others in the local park. I see them along roadsides and in ornamental gardens. Any information about these palms would be welcomed!

Yes it is, but that's a story that's been oft repeated with tropical (ornamental and edible food crop) vegetation. In the tropics pick 10 fantastic ornamental flowers/trees in a park or your garden and at least 5 are from somewhere far away!

Thank you S Frazier! How fascinating to know that this palm originates from Madagascar!
