Persectania ewingii

Persectania ewingii

Description:

30mm long; a subtly attractive moth with glossy, multi-toned, lightly ribbed wings held back at rest possibly resembling some bark?.

Habitat:

Found in ocean-side shower block; camping ground; late at night near strong lights.

Notes:

Thanks Leuba. Also called Southern Armyworm CSIRO - http://www1.ala.org.au/gallery2/v/Noctui... Distribution within Australia - http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Persectani... from Don Herbison - "In August 1980 near Narrandera in New South Wales, the caterpillars were very abundant in the local pastures. Four weeks later the adults were present in such numbers that they invaded houses, causing some inhabitants to evacuate, and leaving the walls coated with wing scales. They even invaded Melbourne at the same time along with Bogong Moths. The two species entered homes and cars and were a nuisance generally." see next spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/177...
