Two-striped Gartersnake

Thamnophis hammondii

Description:

Tonight's visitor was a young, non-venomous snake that my dog found. She didn't harm the snake, just alerted me that there was something moving in the bushes. This subadult had a yellow stripe along each side and black spots along the body. The overall color was brown/green.

Habitat:

Laurel Sumac in backyard chaparral
