This medium-sized butterfly is mostly dark brown which show some colourful reflexes under the sunlight. The wings possess orange/reddish bands that cross the fore wings and on the outer edge of the hind wings, the dorsal fore wings near the front margin are black with white patches.
Spotted in a forest (not dense) on a mountain range near the sea, around 260m high. This specie has a habitat preference for moist woods, yards, parks, marshes, seeps, moist fields.
