Ah, I understand and it's more accurate to know the blue was just a photographic issue. And yes, I agree it is pretty striking anyway and for what I read harvestmens are endangered in many places..I have never seen one, just saw pictures and read about them so very interesting to see yours as well =)
Patty: Thanks for your comment. I'm afraid the blue tinge was mostly accidental. I looked at my original photo and the parts look much closer to black. I posted a more accurate photo now. Having said that, I've read that many tropical opiliones show a wide variety of colors (http://www.museunacional.ufrj.br/mndi/Ar...), but as far as I know, the ones in Virginia are less colorful. Still, I think this guy is pretty striking.
Interesting harvestman and spotting drpalombella; its blue parts seem quite amazing to me but maybe they are common, would you happen to know if they are? Greetings and great spotting =)

Harvestmen are not spiders, they are Arachnids but not spiders, they come from opiliones.
