Warthog

Phacochoerus africanus

Description:

Warthog is the only pig species that has adapted to grazing and savanna habitats. Warthogs have the peculiar habit of kneeling on the front knees while feeding .Although capable of fighting (males aggressively fight each other during mating season) the warthog's primary defense is to flee by means of fast sprinting.

Habitat:

They are found in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania. They occur in open savannah around water holes and marshy areas.
