Description:

Es un ave grande, de aproximadamente 48 cm; se reconoce por su cabeza voluminosa, con una banda azul clara que rodea su coronilla negra y se vuelve morada en la nuca; su pico es grueso y fuerte, ligeramente curvado con los bordes de la parte superior del pico aserrados; la cola es larga, de color negro por debajo, con la rectrices graduales, las centrales terminadas en forma de raqueta, que a veces menea con movimiento pendular.

Habitat:

Habita regiones las tropicales de México, América Central, Trinidad y Tobago y Sudamérica hasta el noroeste de Argentina. Found in forests and woodlands of eastern Mexico, Central America, northern and central South America, and Trinidad and Tobago.
