This is one of the largest species of Owl with a wingspan of 49–59 in and on average it is the heaviest Owl in North America weighing 3.5 to 6.6 lb.
Snowy Owls breed in the Arctic Tundra and winter south through Canada.
really great shot, the detail is fabulous; as for the expression on its face. .well . . would be interesting to know what it was thinking
Thanks all. I saw a car approaching and guessed it would cause the Owl to fly from its perch on a telegraph pole. Lucky for me it flew in my direction...
