This is one of the developmental (instar) stages of the Locust Sawfly. The host plant for this species is black locust. This larvae will grow into the locust sawfly.

Habitat:

This one was feeding on its host plant, Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) in Edgefield County, SC.
