This moth was on the mesh of a door (photo #2) but it got scared and flew when it landed it showed its striking hind wings.

Habitat:

Mostly arid landscape.

Genus Automeris. Looks like an Io moth, Automeris io, but there aren't very many records from Mexico. Not sure if there is a very similar species found more in Mexico? But I can't find anything on this moth that makes me think it is anything other than an io moth!
