Donax variabilis

Description:

Donax variabilis is a species of mollusc found on the east coast of the United States, from Virginia to the Caribbean. They have a brilliant array of colours and are typically 3cm- 5cm long.

Habitat:

They live in the intertidal zones of beaches and have a spade like foot, that's shovels sand, enabling them to bury themselves during low tide to prevent predation and dessication from the sun.
