Spotted Datana Moth Caterpillar

Datana perspicua

Description:

Black and yellow striped caterpillar with stiff hairs covering the entire body. Head is black and there is a reddish stripe that runs the length of the body near the lower edge of the body at the legs.

Habitat:

Feeding on winged sumac near a a constructed pond. The pond is near a southern deciduous forest with a nearby creek.
