Desmodium nudiflorum
Flowers form on long spike, devoid of leaves, 2 to 3 feet long. Flower shape typical of legumes; pale pink with dark ‘eye spots’ Leaflets ovate, approximately 2" long, crowded at top of a sterile branch - approximately 12 inches across - which didn't appear to be associated with the flower stalk. Legume seed pods form soon after flower has withered; approximately 1.5 inches long; straight on one side and scalloped along the other. Not sticky.
In woods with limited sunlight; east-facing slope above reservoir shore.
