Lophonetta specularioides specularioides
A sub-species of the South American crested duck that is found in Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands. It is a dabbling duck that feeds on invertebrates and algae. Medium sized marine duck, and not sexually dimorphic.
Found along the coast, and breeds in grassy or shrubby land behind tidal line.
Relatively common throughout the Falklands, I took this picture while walking into Stanley from the harbour.
