wild grape

Description:

Grape vine with hardy, smallish leaves and bunches of small grapes.

Habitat:

On the rocky banks of the Illinois River, climbing up a ponderosa pine tree.

Notes:

These aren't super-frequent in that area. I heard a story that some Siletz Indian elder was told they'd get a stomach ache if they ate too many--I'd believe it as I usually regret pigging out on any grapes. Moderation is better.
