Noctuid Moth

Proteuxoa hydraecioides

Description:

A grey brown noctuid moth with a wing span of 35 mm and a partially damaged left fore wing. Each fore wing showed two small cream dots and posteriorly a short bar and crescent pattern also cream coloured in stark contrast to the dark wing. The thorax had a brown bilobed collar edged with two pale thin lines.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright garden lights on a warm night.

Notes:

This spotting is mainly to document this species in this area. The moth is damaged and photos not good.
Larvae of this species feed on Nastertiums (Tropaeolum majus).
This moth is very similar to Mamestra dictyota

which is in subfamily Hadeninae.? confusing.
