Myotis spp.

Myotis spp.

Description:

A leucistic Myotis bat.

Notes:

Commonly misidentified as albino, leucism results from the complete loss of pigments within the cells of skin, hair, or feathers during development. The primary difference between albinism and leucism is eye color; albinos typically possess red eyes due to the ability to see the underlying blood vessels, whereas leucistic animals have normally colored eyes.
