Horse Fly

This huge fly and its buddies harassed us constantly during our weekend camping trip to Poverty Point near Rainbow Beach. In Australia these are also known as March Flies and there are over 200 species found in Australia (and no definitive online resource to ID them apparently)! They're annoying and they bite. Local knowledge has it that they are attracted to the colour blue, which might explain why they kept heading for our air mattress (in these pics), our Esky, and our tent (which is also blue)!
