Description:

Provides wood core compact and sturdy, suitable for shipbuilding. The "Emperor Dom Pedro I" hide coins in the fruit of the "Dillenia indica Linn." on the gardens of the Summer Palace to play with money that was born there.

Habitat:

Native of the Himalayas from Nepal to Bhutan; north Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh.

Notes:

My grandfather brought me these fruits for me to see and photograph. Here is the flower of this fruit: [ http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/175... ]. He said that the fruit is great for teas. Also know (at least in Brazil) as: "Árvore-do-Dinheiro" ("Tree-of-Money"), "Árvore da Pataca" ("Tree Pataca"), "Bolsa do Pastor" ("Shepherd's Pocket"), "Flor-de-Abril" ("April Flower"), "Dilênia" ("Dillenia").
