Artocarpus heterophyllus
The Jackfruit or Jack Tree (Artocarpus heterophyllus), is a species of tree in the mulberry family (Moraceae). It is native to parts of South and Southeast Asia. Jackfruits are known for having a distinct aroma. The flesh of the jackfruit is starchy and fibrous, and is a source of dietary fiber. The flavor is similar to a tart banana. Varieties are distinguished according to the characteristics of the fruits' flesh. Langka, in Tagalog, is cultivated throughout the Philippines at low and medium altitudes.
