BLACK HEADED CUCKOO-SHRIKE

Description:

The black-headed cuckooshrike (Coracina melanoptera) is a species of cuckooshrike found in Sri Lanka and in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This is a beautiful birds with grey and black. The primary feathers are comprising of grey and black streaks. The head is black. Commonly can be seen in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It is very active bird in the morning and around in the evening. The call is a high frequency whistle. In Sri Lanka this bird is always patronize Margosa trees during mornings and evening looking for worms and insect like other Shrikes.

Habitat:

Generally choose the intermediate and dry zones searching for worms and other insects on trees which has groves like the other Shrikes.
