Calycopis cf. cecrops
butterfly with gray wings with touches of red, white, and blue
I agree... plus, according to my book (Kauffman's), C. isobeon is only in Texas and south into Mexico. This spotting is in S. Carolina. C. cecrops (aka "Red-banded Hairstreak") is "very common in the southeast."
Lycaeinidae, Theclinae, Eumaeini, Calycopis sp., cannot really or for sure tell you which one of the 2 candidates: Calycopis isobeon and Calycopis cecrops. I slightly would tend to Calycopis cecrops. But Calycopis cf. cecrops is in my eyes a valid compromise. Besides, Cecrops is much more common than Isobeon.
